These terms govern your use of the K53 Ready mobile application. By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. The service
K53 Ready is a study and self-practice application for the South African Learner's Driver Licence test (the "K53" syllabus). It contains educational summaries of the rules of the road, a catalogue of official road signs, illustrations of vehicle controls, and timed mock multiple-choice tests. The app is provided free of charge and is supported by third-party advertising.
2. Licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, solely for your own personal, non-commercial study. You may not:
- copy, modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works from the app's source code or assets;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except as expressly permitted by applicable law;
- extract or scrape questions, images, or content from the app for republication or commercial use;
- resell, rent, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the app or any part of it;
- remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice;
- use the app to break the law or infringe anyone else's rights.
3. Study aid only — not official, not legal advice
K53 Ready is an independent study aid. It is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or certified by the South African Department of Transport, any provincial authority, any driving licence testing centre (DLTC), or any traffic enforcement body.
Passing every mock test in this app does not guarantee that you will pass the official learner's licence test. The official test, questions, marking, and requirements are controlled solely by the testing authority and may change without notice. The information in this app is for general educational purposes and is not legal advice.
4. Source content
The rule summaries, road sign codes, and vehicle-control diagrams in K53 Ready are derived from the South African Department of Transport's K53 Learner's Driver Manual (June 2012, Version 1.00), used here for educational purposes. The road sign artwork is sourced from Wikimedia Commons under public-domain / open licences. "K53" refers to the South African learner's licence syllabus; it is not a trademark of this app.
5. Advertising
The app displays banner ads and full-screen video ads served by Google AdMob. The content of those ads is provided by Google and third-party advertisers — we do not endorse, control, or approve any specific ad. Your interaction with advertisers (including any purchase) is solely between you and the advertiser. See our Privacy Policy for more on what data AdMob may collect.
6. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, free of bugs, secure against unauthorised access, or that any defects will be corrected. To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall the developer of K53 Ready be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the app — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total cumulative liability to you for any direct damages will not exceed R100 (one hundred South African Rand) or the amount you have paid us for the app (which is zero — the app is free).
8. Failed tests, fines, accidents
We are not responsible for any failed test attempts, traffic fines, accidents, injuries, licence refusals, suspensions, or other consequences that may follow your study with, or use of, this app. Always read the official K53 manual, follow the directions of testing officers, and obey traffic laws.
9. Updates & availability
We may update, change, or discontinue any feature of the app at any time without notice. We may also stop publishing the app entirely. You are responsible for keeping your device and the app updated to the latest version we make available.
10. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. When we do, the "Effective" date at the top of this page will change. Your continued use of the app after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not accept the updated terms, please stop using the app and uninstall it.
11. Governing law & jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the app is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts. If any provision of these terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
12. Severability & entire agreement
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the K53 Ready app. Failure to enforce any right or provision of these terms will not be considered a waiver of that right.
